Primary schools in Trnava will receive floor bicycle racks for hundreds of bicycles
Trnava, located in western Slovakia, is investing in cycling infrastructure by purchasing nearly 300 bike racks across 8 elementary schools. These racks will accommodate up to 600 bicycles, representing an investment of over 26,000 euros. The project, which receives funding from the Ministry of Transportation, is in line with initiatives to advance bicycle transportation development.
The city is actively engaged in a public procurement process for additional bike racks in public spaces, supplementing its ongoing commitment to cycling growth. Trnava City Hall has consistently backed cycling expansion, evident through the introduction of new cycle paths and the ongoing development of a shared footpath for pedestrians and cyclists leading to Biely Kostol village. As part of its cycling-friendly initiatives, Trnava also provides shared bicycles for residents, with over 400 bikes available for annual rental at 30 € under the 'Žltý bajk' project.
Plans were slated to start this year for the construction of a 2 km cycling route on J. Botta Street and Moyzesova Street, funded through Trnava's allocation from the Recovery and Resilience Plan. Although a contractor has been chosen for the 2.24 million € project, pending the signing and publication of the grant contract with the Ministry of Transport, work has yet to commence.
